New York, NY (CNS) – Oprah Winfrey is set to host fashion’s biggest soiree next year. The media mogul will be co-presenting the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala on May 3 with Gap creative director Patrick Robinson.
The annual New York fashion event will be themed “American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity” for 2010.
According to curator Andrew Bolton explained that the show will look at fashion’s role in defining how the nation’s fairer sex have been represented historically and how fashion costumes women into standards that still persist in varying degrees of relevance.
The event will also pay particular attention to the way fashion from 1890 to 1940 has morphed into current styles.
The gala will be held on May 3 next year, while the exhibit will run from May 5 to August 15.
