Milan, Italy (CNS) – New York has officially been knocked to number two on the list for the most fashionable cities in the world. Milan has toppled New York’s five-year reign on the annual list.
The survey was released on Monday and is compiled by the nonprofit trend-tracking company Global Language Monitor. The survey takes information and trend terminology such as “haute couture” and “mode” and calculates how the terms are used in the media, on the internet and on various blogs.
Designers and retailers across the globe are feeling the crunch of the economy and the effect saw designers scaling down parties and shows, but Milan held its’ own this year and stayed true to the fashion season.
The top five list for the most fashionable cities includes: Milan, New York, Paris, Rome and London.
