Paris, France (CNS) – Even famed fashion designer Christian Lacroix is no stranger to the economic crisis. His fashion house filed for bankruptcy protection last May and his Paris runway show on Tuesday could be his last.
The designer may be forced to close his doors this month. LaCroix’s Paris show earned great reviews, but all noting that it was a dark, somber collection. The designer used mostly black and dark navy for its his dresses and designs, with some fashion critics saying it was like a funeral for the fashion house.
”I can’t think it’s the end,” LaCroix said. “It’s the beginning of something I think because I can’t imagine that in Paris a couture house might close. We felt such a support was generous and without support and help nothing would be possible today.”
LaCroix’s fashion house is currently in search of a buyer. They already announced they would be reducing the company’s work force from 124 to 12. LaCroix hopes to attract new investors for a comeback in the future.
