New York, NY (CNS) – Keds footwear company is teaming up with Barneys New York and Loomstate to create a new green sneaker. The new green shoe is based on the company’s “Champion” sneaker and will feature five prints that feature 100 percent organic uppers and linings, nickel-free eyelets and insoles that are 100 percent recycled.
Keds also recently launched their Green Label line which uses 100% organic cotton for their shoes along with non-toxic inks and dyes, 20% recycled rubber insoles and shoelaces constructed from recycled plastic water bottles.
The company will also donate a portion of the proceeds of the shoe sales to The Organic Exchange, a charity organization that strives to expand organic agriculture, with a focus on increasing the production and use of organically grown fibers such as cotton.
The new shoes will be available at select Barneys locations and online in late June. They will retail for $75 and will come in recycled/repurposed boxes.
