Los Angeles, CA (CNS) – Supermodel Paulina Porizkova’s “huge ego” had nothing to do with her dismissal from “America’s Next Top Model.” The former judge was sacked because of the economic setback, according to creator Tyra Banks.
The 44-year-old catwalk beauty said in a recent interview that she was the “fat” that “ANTM” needed to cut down.
She said, “So I figured it was either that or my gigantic huge. Which I wasn’t aware of until I was told by the producers that I have an ego problem.”
However, Banks and co-producer Ken Mok explained that Porizkova won’t be returning for the show’s 13th cycle because they needed to make budget cuts.
They said in a statement, “The current state of the economy has forced shows to make major budget cuts industry wide.”
“‘America’s Next Top Model’ is not immune to these financially challenging times. We’ve had to make significant cuts in every area of the production and, unfortunately, Paulina was a casualty of these cuts.”
“Tyra, who pursued Paulina to join the show as a judge multiple times, was incredibly saddened by the decision the show was forced to make.”
“We really enjoyed working with Paulina, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”
Porizkova replaced fellow former model Twiggy as the fourth judge in the show’s Cycle 10. She announced she had been fired during a May 12 appearance on “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.”
