Monte Carlo, Monaco (BANG) – Britain’s Zara Phillips wowed guests at a charity poker match with her glamorous appearance. The 27-year-old royal – who is the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth – attended the Ante Up For Africa event in Monte Carlo, South France, on Monday wearing a one-shoulder purple satin dress and gold earrings.
A source said: “Zara stole the show. Loose-fitting dresses are very fashionable and purple is the color to be seen in at the moment. She has clearly been doing her research.”
Zara was supporting her rugby player boyfriend Mike Tindall, who was playing alongside a host of celebrities including U.S. rapper Nelly, singer Christina Millian, Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden, “Heroes” actor James Kyson Lee, British TV presenter Kirsty Gallacher and ex-footballer Teddy Sheringham.
The contest – which was run by website PokerStars to raise money for the humanitarian crisis in Darfur – raised over Ł222,000 [around $320,000], although all celebrity flights, accommodation and meals were paid for.
PokerStars is also believed to have paid some participants, including Mike, a fee of Ł3,500 [$5,200].
The source told Britain’s The Daily Mail newspaper: “PokerStars were really keen for Mike to come along and play as he’s a very good poker player.”
The celebrities played alongside professionals at the event, with Teddy getting the furthest.
Speaking after coming second, he said: “It’s been a brilliant event for a very worthwhile cause.”
