New York, NY (CNS) – American fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg is “mortified” that one of her jackets resembles an item designed by the Canadian label Mercy. A full investigation is now underway.
“When I saw it on the Internet, I thought, the print is completely different. But then I saw something about the style with the bow, so I am not sure,” said von Furstenberg to WWD. She is also the President of Council of Fashion Designers of America.
The designer, who is best known for her iconic wrap dress, says an internal investigation at her label has revealed that the woman who created the item no longer works for her.
“I will do what is necessary to do, and if indeed there was an infringement, I will compensate and will use this example to make sure this doesn’t happen again- not just for me, but for everybody,” the 62-year-old said.
