Los Angeles, CA (CNS) – Courtney Love has been sued by a fashion designer who claims she has become “the latest victim of Love’s volatile personality, hair trigger temper, and malicious and tortious behavior.”
Dawn Simorangkir of Boudoir Queen clothing and accessory line has filed the suit on Thursday at the Los Angeles Superior Court, claiming that the former Hole rocker has caused “irreparable damage” to her name and reputation.
She is suing for libel, invasion of privacy, intentional interference with a prospective economic advantage, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and breach of contract.
According to the complaint, Love contacted Simorangkir about her line through Etsy.com, an online marketplace that caters to independent designers. Love then began to purchase Boudoir Queen clothes. Subsequently, the 44-year-old musician asked the designer, a resident of Austin, Texas, and her husband to fly to Los Angeles to meet with her regarding the purchase of several custom pieces.
Simorangkir had returned to L.A. in January 2009 for a second meeting. Love ordered her driver and Simorangkir’s husband to fill garment bags with various clothing remnant and trims to make custom clothings. After completion of the first custom dress in February, Simorangkir sent an invoice to Love for the work. Love apparently became angry that she had to pay.
The designer invoiced Love for other garments that she had either completed or had yet to complete, and again, Love was angry that she had to pay her for the work.
Since Love wasn’t inclined to pay at all, Simorangkir temporarily suspended work for Love. This had, again, angered Love. The plaintiff allegedly offered on numerous occasions to return the clothing trims the rocker gave her to work on. Love was said to fail to coherently respond.
Love then made life a living hell for Simorangkir and has threatened her in public and tried to get her kicked out of Etsy.com, wherein she primarily does her business. She called Simorangkir a “vile horrible lying bitch” in the feedback section of the Etsy page.
Among the comments Love supposedly made to Simorangkir include the designer being a cocaine dealer, thief, embezzler, racist, and a homophobe. She even said that Simorangkir would be “hunted til [she was] dead.”
Simorangkir is asking for unspecified damage.
