Miami, FL (CNS) – No color was too bright or too bold for Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, the Designer of the Year for Miami Fashion Week 2009. Her showcase on the final night of Miami Fashion Week was an eye-popping visual treat that left audiences in awe and utterly entertained. Ruiz de la Prada’s Autumn/Winter collection featured colors from yellow to orange to hot pink, but the designs have a lot of heart, and plenty of hearts, in between.
A pink, oversized heart-shaped top won audience applause as it came down the runway, while other pieces, such as a model wearing a blue and green hat/full-face covering mask kept people guessing. Bright yellow hats shaped like upside down umbrellas accessorized yellow dresses, and a model covered from head to roso in green rouge with hot pink hearts left mouths gaping open.
Ruiz de la Prada’s collection was like pop art come to life and she definitely played up the art. Though the designs would probably work more in an installation than on a rack, the Spain native’s collection made for the most entertaining show of Miami Fashion Week. Ruiz de la Prada’s ingenuity and wacky charm make her Designer of the Year title for 2009 well deserved.
Miami Fashion Week came to a close with Ruiz de la Prada’s fashion show on Sunday. The week showcased over 60 different designers from 24 countries around the world, including Dominican Republic, Malaysia and Dubai.
