Madonna Crowned Worst Dressed Celebrity Of 2009 By PETA
Hollywood, CA (BANG) – Madonna has been named the Worst Dressed Celebrity of 2009. The “4 Minutes” singer topped the poll by animal rights group PETA because she continues to wear fur.
In a statement, PETA said: “When you see Madonna in fur, you realize why nobody has copied her style since 1984.”
“We know she’s on the prowl for a young cur, but someone needs to tell Madonna that wearing fur doesn’t make you a cougar.”
Other celebrities on the list include Kanye West, Kate Moss, Mary J Blige, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Elizabeth Hurley and Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen.
Despite her unwanted title, Madonna is launching a new fashion line. The “Material Girl” singer has teamed up with designer Ed Hardy to create the “innovative” range, which includes tattoo-inspired T-shirts and diamante-encrusted bodices.
Brand owner Christian Audigier approached the 50-year-old singer after he spotted her wearing Ed’s tattoo-print clothes.
He reportedly offered Madonna a six-figure sum to design her own line and even organized a private catwalk show to inspire her.
The musician was seen arriving at Audigier’s office last month and will reportedly put the finishing touches to her range this month.
Madonna designed a “cheap and trendy” range for Swedish clothing company H+M in March 2007.
