Los Angeles, CA (CNS) – The gala Oscar night is something to look forward to not only because of the winners but also because of the sea of fashion it has. Kate Winslet stole the spectacular show in a stunning black and blue silk and lace Yves Saint Laurent gown.
The British actress was adorned in an asymmetrical gown, created especially for her by Stefano Pitati at YSL, Daily Mail reports. Next on the list for the lookouts is fellow nominee Angelina Jolie who stuck to her favorite black, complemented with big emerald drop earrings.
First winner for the night, Penelope Cruz, who won for her best supporting actress role in “Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” arrived in a silver vintage gown designed by Pierre Balmain sixty years ago.
Following her in the fairy tale theme was Sarah Jessica Parker who wore a similar dress by Dior Couture in a light mint green with gold waves decorating the bodice.
Evan Rachel Wood, Jessica Biel and Anne Hathway stuck to their choice of pale gowns, while teen sensation Miley Cyrus wore a silver and white embroidered ballgown with a long train.
High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens wore a figure-hugging, black strapless corset gown with over-fussy leather details. The presenter of the show won a gown created for her by British designers Marchesa, the Daily reports.
