New York, NY (CNS) – Victoria Beckham showed once again why she’s called “Posh” when she unveiled her second collection of dresses for the autumn/winter 2009 during New York Fashion Week. The celebrity fashionista showed a collection that left the crowd and critics saying that Beckham spiced up the runway with “an astonishingly accomplished collection.”
Presented in a large suite at the Waldorf hotel, Beckham included some of her signature black and grey dresses that primarily composed her previous collection shown five months prior. But Beckham also went bold, with a floor-length body-hugging red evening gown and a bright purple silk zippered cape. 50’s inspired tailored day dresses were described as “very ‘Mad Men,'” although Posh mistakenly called it “very ‘Mad Max'” during the show.
Other than that small misstep, Beckham showcased 23 looks and explained them all confidently. She also made sure to include that these dresses were “young.” Girls Aloud and “X Factor” host Cheryl Cole claimed last month that Beckham’s dresses were “for older women” and “not something we [Girls Aloud] would wear.” Beckham described a purple silk mini dress as “cool and young” and a black zippered tweed cape was “youthful and fresh.”
“She has a personal relationship with each one which almost amounts to a love affair,” said The Daily Telegraph’s fashion editor Hilary Alexander on Posh’s second collection. “She knows every stitch, every seam. Mrs. Beckham was much derided when she launched her collection last year. But the critics have had to eat their words.” And eat their words they must, as the verdict on Beckham’s latest is the Autumn/Winter 2009 collection has “major” style.
