Miami, FL (CNS) – Michelle Obama and Jill Biden both were talks of the town last night with their inaugural ball gowns, but CNS readers are giving their vote to Jill Biden for her red, strapless Reem Acra gown. Readers gave Biden the upper hand, saying that she “stole the show” and “owned the inaugural balls” in her red number.
“I wanna look like Jill Biden when I grow up,” said one CNS reader. While reader Lauren Baetz found the dress to too simple. “I think you can walk into any department store during any season and find a dress similar,” she said. However, the comments were positive for Obama, with various readers calling the gown “stunning.”
Obama opted for a white chiffon, one-shoulder gown designed by 26-year-old Jason Wu, who is sure to climb up to the top of the fashion world food chain after the inaugural exposure. Comments for Obama’s dress were generally favorable, including one reader who noted that she “is not a democrat but Michelle Obama’s white dress was great last night. Very beautiful.” Covered in Swarovski crystals, the dress will be donated to the Smithsonian as tradition. However, some readers complained of an awkward silhouette, saying “she needs to embrace her height and quit slouching.”
“I think Michelle is statuesque. She is beautiful. I wanted to design a gown that would highlight her best features,” said Wu on the Today Show about his gown.
