Washington, D.C. (CNS) – Famed fashion designer Oscar de la Renta will be designing the inaugural gowns for both Hillary Clinton and Laura Bush for the big night on January 20. This Dominican-born designer has already been a hot favorite with A- list celebrities including Scarlett Johansson, Sarah Jessica Parker, Penelope Cruz and Liv Tyler.
Renta also recently created gowns for America Ferrera and Amy Adams at last week’s Golden Globes. In an interview with Barbara Walters this week, de la Renta disclosed some details about Secretary of State-designate Clinton’s gown.
Renta said that he has designed a “very, very beautiful dress…pink and grey with this beautiful embroidery.” The designer calls Hillary his favorite but added that they had a small disagreement over the design.
However, there is still no word on what the first lady Michelle Obama would be wearing for the night. There is speculation in the media about if she would go for a bold red-colored dress as she chose for the pervious occasion when President Obama was declared winner or go in for some subtle shades.
