London, England (CNS) – Hilary Riva, head of British Fashion Council, has been named as a recipient of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) as part of the Queen’s New Year’s Honors list.
Formerly managing director of Rubicon, Riva has now been the CEO at the British Fashion Council for two years. She will be honored for her tireless dedication to promoting British fashion on the world stage, championing young design talent and growing London Fashion Week as head of the BFC, Vogue reports.
London handbag designer Anya Hindmarch also made the list and she will receive an MBE, while David Jones, the chairman of Shop Direct Group and deputy chairman of JJB Sports, has earned himself a knighthood.
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry established on June 4, 1917 by King George V. The Order includes five classes in civil and military divisions; in decreasing order of seniority, these are Knight Grand Cross (GBE) or Dame Grand Cross (GBE), Knight Commander (KBE) or Dame Commander (DBE), Commander (CBE), Officer (OBE) and Member (MBE).
