Beverly Hills, CA (CNS) – Despite the downturn in the economy, Jeweler Fred Leighton pressed on with plans to open his first store in California. He opened the California store in Beverly Hills off Rodeo drive on Thursday, Dec. 18.
Leighton is a huge Hollywood favorite in the jewelry business, providing gems for such clients as Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Gwyneth Paltrow and Sienna Miller. The jeweler specializes in vintage jewelry from the eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth century, along with a signature collection.
The 1,100 square-foot store also includes corporate offices and a private viewing room for clients. It was designed by architect Nicolo Bini, who gave the store a modern look with some art deco touches.
The owner of the new store, Ralph Esmerian, has also procured a special collection to put on display, showing historical, one-of-a-kind pieces from the 19th century, art nouveau and art deco, along with some 20th century pieces.
According to Fashion Week Daily, other pieces on display include a Paul Flato aquamarine and ruby belt necklace that at one time belonged to Mrs. Cole Porter and was later given to Fred Astaire’s daughter, Adele, and an art deco diamond and precious gemstone bracelet by Rubel Freres.
