Chicago, IL (CNS) – The Barneys location in Chicago has announced plans to open a new store in Chicago, one that will almost double the size of the current 52,000 square foot store.
The new store will be located across the street from the current Oak Street store and boasts 90,000 square feet of retail space, along with a new penthouse-style Fred’s restaurant to accompany the new six story location.
Simon Doonan, the creative director for Barneys New York told WWD, “We wanted to give our Chicago customers a richer experience, something that will parallel the Madison Avenue flagship in New York. It would have been very easy to stay where we were, but this next step feels right for us.”
The company plans to open the new store in the spring of 2009.
