Paris, France (CNS) – After a long hiatus, veteran Italian designer Romeo Gigli is back on the scene. The 56-year-old designer will launch an upscale clothing line called Io Ipse Idem, it was announced at a press conference in Milan Thursday.
Financed by IP Investimenti e Partecipazioni SPA (IP Spa), the chief executive officer of the Io Ipse Idem project is Catherine Vautrin. In 1984, Gigli presented his first fashion collection under the name “Romeo Gigli” with the help of former editor in chief of Italian Vogue, Carla Sozzani. Two years later he succeeded in the international breakthrough.
IP Spa is a private independent investment company operating on the national and international stage and headed by Michele Denegri. Gigli coined the term cocooning, for a particular cut that gives the body a new form.
Besides women’s and men’s fashion designs, Gigli also designs sunglasses, neckties, perfumes and various accessories.
