New York, NY (CNS) – Marc Jacobs surprised the audience at his runway show in Paris when he emerged wearing heels earlier this month. The fashion designer explains he wants to empathize with women’s pain.
After wearing heels to his Louis Vuitton show in Paris, Jacobs showed up wearing a skirt at the premiere of “Filth and Wisdom,” Madonna’s directorial debut.
Jacobs told NYmag.com his reasons for donning women’s wear, saying he feels empathy for the opposite sex.
He said, “I always get nuts when women go, ‘Oh, men don’t know what it’s like – women in heels, women in skirts, women in dresses – what it’s like to suffer for fashion.”
And his verdict?
“It wasn’t really suffering at all. It was a pleasure to be able to achieve a look that I wanted to look like.”
He continued, “I like wearing skirts and high heels and stuff like that. I don’t see it in a way that it’s like women suffering. I see it in a way it’s like women get to have all the fun.”
Jacobs partnered the skirt with boots and socks, while he wore the heels with tailored suit and pants.
