Miami, FL (CNS) – The American Heart Association became more fashionable than ever when Miami’s first ever Red Dress Fashion Show took place at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden on Thursday night.
Part of Miami’s ongoing Funkshion Fashion Week, the event brought professional models, celebrities and everyday women together to showcase red dresses on the runway created specifically for the Red Dress Fashion Show.
Designers of the fashions for the Red Dress Fashion Show included Richie Rich of famed fashion duo Heatherette, who was seated front row at the event and will be later headlining his own event during Funkshion Fashion Week, Kurru Kurru, who also had their own fashion show taking place simultaneously at The Setai in Miami Beach, and top fashion designer Marc Jacobs.
Celebrities who walked the runway included former Miss USA and host of MTV’s “TRL” (Total Request Live), Susie Castillo, recent America’s Next Top Model finalist and Miami resident Stacy-Ann Fequiere, and Maryline Blackburn, best known for beating out Sarah Palin to win Miss Alaska in 1984 and recent television appearances.
Ashley Menendez, one of the stars of VH1’s hit show “Brooke Knows Best” along with Brooke Hogan, was also on hand, hitting the runway for the first time. “I was really excited to be able to represent such a good cause. The American Heart Association really work to bring people awareness about heart disease.”
Joanna Palmer, the South Florida Marketing Director for the American Heart Association, said “It couldn’t have been a bigger success. I would love to see a Red Dress Show year after year and repeated in cities around the country. I always want to make sure we spread the message.”
All the red dresses featured in the show will be auctioned off with 100 percent of the proceeds going to local community efforts of the American Heart Association.
