Milan, Italy (CNS) – “Borat” star Sacha Baron Cohen was detained by authorities on Thursday after crashing a fashion show by designer Agatha Ruiz de la Prada in Milan, Italy.
The comedian was apparently staying in character as Bruno, his flashy Austrian fashionista alter ego.
Cohen, wearing a blonde wig, was seen rushing the show’s catwalk in a Velcro suit and black coat. Security attempted to remove him from the runway, but he evaded them and continued to strut his way to the catwalk. The police were called when he refused to leave.
His publicist Matt Labov explains that Cohen, 36, was not criminally charged and was released within the same hour. He wouldn’t confirm if the incident was part of a shoot for his forthcoming film.
As per the Huffington Post, the actor – who never did break character during the catwalk crash – was not carrying identification with him at the time of his arrest. He also asked if he could use the phone.
This is not the first time “Bruno” crashed a fashion show. He also crashed Italian designer Iceberg’s show in Milan, but he was caught by the security before he could strut on the runway.
Cohen is believed to be filming another movie with a working title of “Bruno: Delicious Journeys Through America for the Purpose of Making Heterosexual Males Visibly Uncomfortable in the Presence of a Gay Foreigner in a Mest T-Shirt.”
