Elton John's Brooch Fails To Sell At London Auction

London, England (CNS) – Despite experts predicting a pretty penny to be made off Sir Elton John’s brooch, the piece didn’t interest any collectors and was left unsold at the end of the auction held at Bonhams in London on Thursday.

The international superstar wore the J shaped sapphire and diamond piece during his 1988 hit “I Don’t Wanna Go On With You Like That” and experts predicted the piece could go for more than $22,000.

Unfortunately, there were no takers for the brooch that was meant to be the highlight of the auction.

The piece also featured a photo of the star wearing the jewelry in the video.

The art deco brooch was created around 1935 and features baguette-cut diamonds, five oval-cut sapphires and a cluster of circular sapphires.

Auction bosses at Bonhams have blamed the poor economy as the reason for the brooch not selling.
