London, England (CNS) – After London just barely was able to save its’ fashion week, it now has another reason to celebrate. The British Fashion Council announced at the 25th anniversary of London Fashion Week (LFW) the U.K.’s largest ever fashion fund.
British Fashion Council chairman Harold Tillman revealed plans for a fund that will be awarded to designers for the first time in November 2009.
The fund will help tackle various issues including increased business support and training for designers, working with colleges to incorporate more business development into courses and creating the first MBA in Fashion.
Tillman told reporters, “The BFC Fashion Fund is set to become the single most significant thing to hit British design in my lifetime. This will allow us to make a real difference to exciting businesses, assisting them to grow and develop here.”
The event was hosted by Sarah Brown at 10 Downing Street and included fashion celebrities such as Naomi Campbell, Matthew Williamson, Diane von Furstenberg and Vivienne Westwood.
