Los Angeles, CA (CNS) – Celebrities like Nicole Kidman and Gwen Stefani have been outfitting themselves in Coco Chanel for years, and now Actress Shirley MacLaine will become Coco Chanel in the Lifetime Channel story of the legendary haute couture designer who changed the face of fashion in a movie called “Coco Chanel.” The movie will air Saturday, September 13 starting at 8/7c.
“Coco Chanel” is the rags-to-riches tale charting the rise of one of the most influential fashion icons of the 20th century. From her humble childhood in a French orphanage, through her early days as a young dressmaker’s assistant, to her passionate and tragic love with a dashing Englishman, and ultimately to her success as a pioneering icon, “Coco Chanel” is the story of a glamorous woman who was hard to love and harder to ignore. This epic true story stars MacLaine, Malcolm McDowell and Barbora Bobulova.
MacLaine’s illustrious career comprises of more than 50 feature films highlighted by an Academy Award win and six nominations, three Emmy Awards, seven Golden Globe Awards as well as being the author of an international best-selling book. Actor McDowell plays Marc Boucheir, a close confidante and business associate of Chanel’s and Bobulova plays Chanel at a younger age.
