New York, NY (CNS) – “Ugly Betty” may be a fashion no-no at the Mode magazine headquarters, but at the New York Fashion Week, her style is prevalent on the runway.
Designer Catherine Holstein’s Fall 2008 collection shows off designs that are remarkably similar to the TV character’s style.
Betty’s “kooky couture” style, a phrase coined by the show’s stylist Patricia Field, is on the runway at the Bryant Park tents this week, with models embodies her geek-chic look.
Holstein’s collection features models in oversized black glasses, blunt bangs, and librarian-style hair buns. They’re clad in lively colored cardigans with patterned mini-skirt to complete the look.
Holstein, as quoted by New York Daily, says of her collection, “The glasses I didn’t expect to be so prevalent in the collection.”
“I didn’t mean for it to be geek chic. It did end up that way in the end, and I was more than happy for it to be that way because I think it’s cool.”
Meanwhile, the hit ABC series, which stars America Ferrera as the titular character, is scheduled to premiere its 3rd season on September 25.
