Los Angeles, CA (CNS)- The term “green revolution” is no longer used to describe just hybrid cars and solar panels. Fashion designers are getting into the mix, creating eco-friendly clothing. This summer, swimwear designers have taken the lead, putting aside traditional swimwear fabrics of Nylon and Lycra, and instead using recycled and repurposed materials to create their designs.
An example of an eco-friendly swimwear design comes from Aaron Chang International. Well known for his surfer friendly clothes, Aaron Chang recently began designing swimwear using polyester yarn made from recycled soda bottles. His swimwear line features several different collections, all linked by common themes of plans, animals, and the beach.
Chang, on his website, describes why it was so important to him to create an eco-friendly line of swimwear, “his was a natural progression for our company. I have always had a deep respect for the environment,” said Aaron Chang, founder of ACI. “Maintaining and loving our environment is paramount to the welfare of our planet and oceans. If we all band together, set aside the politics and do everything within our power to contribute to a global effort we can effect change.”
