Beijing, China (CNS) – Kobe Bryant has trounced Yao Ming in his own country. The American NBA legend has beaten the Chinese basketball giant in jersey sales figures.
Bryant, who along with 12 other players, is in Beijing to represent the U.S. in its men’s senior national basketball team. Being the most known of the team internationally, it’s not surprising that he has topped the list of top ten bestselling NBA jerseys in China.
What is surprising is that Ming, China’s own NBA delegate, drops to the bottom of the top ten best-sellers list. Ming is playing for his home country in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
While specific sales figures were not revealed, NBA officially announced on Tuesday that the stores already exceeded sales projection by nearly 70%.
Rounding up the top best selling jerseys are: No. 2 Kevin Garnett (Boston Celtics), No.3 Tracy McGrady (Houston Rockets), No. 4 Paul Pierce (Boston Celtics), No. 5 Allen Iverson (Denver Nuggets), No. 6 Gilbert Arenas (Washington Wizards), No. 7 LeBron James (Cleveland Cavaliers), No. 8 Dwyane Wade (Miami Heat), and No. 9 Dwight Howard (Orlando Magic).
