Ralph Lauren has practically performed every feat possible in the fashion industry and now adds one more to his unbelievably long resume. His company was tasked with outfitting Team USA. Lauren’s company, no stranger to patriotic themes with the various Polo, Chaps and namesake collections, put together a line that continues that tradition. The relaxed look of Athens 4 years ago took a back seat to wool navy blazers with the famous Polo pny logo, egg shell tousers and gleaming white broadcloth shirts. To top it off Lauren completed the ensemble with white twill newboy caps. The women were treated with scarves as accents while the men were given striped silk neckwear.
Ralph Lauren’s senior vice president of advertising, marketing and corporate communications (as well as being the designer’s son), David Lauren said for the opening ceremony the company wanted to create, “something simple enough for the athletes to put together, yet stylish enough to elevate us as a country.”
The blazers went on sale at the RalphLauren.com website and sold out almost immediately.Expectations are that the Olympic line from Ralph Lauren will make an appearance once again based on sales of the collection.
