It’s not what you think. Nina Garcia wants the designer and artist in you to come out, only not for designing the next clothing line. Garcia wants you to design the packaging for a birth control pill by Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals. This effort is for their new Yaz birth control pill which according to their press release is,
“approved to treat the emotional and physical premenstrual symptoms severe enough to impact a woman’s life. These symptoms, called premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), can include irritability, fatigue, moodiness, feeling anxious and bloating. These symptoms can also significantly impact a woman’s quality of life interfering with school, work or personal relationships with others…”
Garcia’s rationale for getting behind this effort is to help redesign what has come to be an “iconic accessory” (the birth control case) for women. Those wanting to enter the contest can enter online at http://www.PillPackMakeover.com. The submission deadline is June 30, 2008. The winner of the contest will receive $10,000 that can be used for design classes or for purchases of special design materials and/or tools. The winner will be announced during Fall Fashion Week.
