Matthew Williamson Launches 10 Years in Fashion Retrospective
Meghan Hart
Matthew Williamson launched his 10 year in fashion retrospective exhibition at Urbis in Manchester UK. Williamson started his career in fashion by creating custom clothing for his friends going to the Hacienda Club in Manchester. The show was also displayed previously at the Design Museum in London to rave reviews. The svelte designer parties with his mom, family members and Manchester’s list of A-listers. Williamson’s story reads like a fairy tale. Williamson put a call into to a (then) fashion assistant at Vogue UK who championed him to create a line. Williamson created the fashion line in 1997 with no financial backing which at that time was called Electric Angels. The line was modeled by Kate Moss, Jade Jagger and Helena Christensen.
