Having just been responsible for helping to relaunch Ozzie Clark, I was excited to see what Gur had come up with for his own collection. Inspired by Urban London and the disused rubbish and paper that is cast aside daily by manic city dwellers, Gur has made a collection using up all this waste. Difficult for it not to look like a dodgy student project, Gur crafted materials in incredible ways. Cardboard box corsets, crepe paper skirts, masking tape belts, curtain dresses, original British Army sacking ponchos.Girls of ethic minority’s are less regularly booked for the shows over fashion week, but every model at Gur’s show was black. Highly original and incredibly well executed this felt like finally some one has seen that fashion can be made by recycling discarded materials. Unwearable but innovative and with a powerful message, Gur’s collection was witty and refreshing.
