Hilariously funny take on a fashion show. Antoni and Alison have just been awarded an MBE for their services to the fashion industry. After a very English tea party at a lovely quiet house in South Ken, we were then taken into a theatre. Presenting their show, we are told it was inspired by a black marker pen, as apparently now that they are so high up in fashion, they couldn’t really be bothered to leave the comfort of their armchairs. It is a satirical, sarcastic send up of the arrogance that surrounds the industry. The Queen, with a marker pen bow scribbled on her neck, looks on from a picture hung on the wall. The curtains are drawn to reveal the backs of a row of models, each with a head scarf inspired by her majesty. Slowly each one turns round and removes the head scarf, to reveal the pairs AW08 collection. Humorously they have named the items “crossed out vaguely fitting velvet dress-scribbled all over check jersey blouse, boring tweed headscarf with random line”. Looking at the originality of this show and the expertise of the collection, you can see why they have been given their award. Brilliant!
