My pupils must have dilated when I saw a gorgeous flapper-style dress off on the distant end of the runway. Once the model past our section we crowned that THE must have dress from Monique Lhuiller’s fall collection. Not to say that was the only one though. L’Huiller had a very strong showing at fashion week from the dresses with the fur-lined sleeves to the strapless accented dress with cabochon-jeweled embroidery. The artist of the celebrity shows (as I affectionately like to refer to her) kept her lines structurally clean while trying few new things in her runway show. That flapper-like dress though has the hearts of everyone collectively at Papierdoll.

According to Monique Lhuillier, her fall collection had a smoky and loungy flapper feeling with a modern approach. Amen to that! While her designs were not an exact replica but merely inspiration from the roaring 20’s they were impeccably styled, super luxe and super sexy. Art Deco influences were evident in mirrored beads, paillettes, feathers and fringe. Even her daywear was super rich with metallic fabrics and fur trim. If we are in a recession, you wouldn’t know it from this show. (read full review here)
