Sometimes when you lose, you really win. If that cryptic message is descriptive of anything at all, it definitely applies to Victorya Hong’s Na Be collection. The Project Runway alum shed the reality show stigma and has come into her own as a full blown bona fide designer. It’s not as if she wasn’t one before, but as reality show followers know, those who don’t get the top prize often fade into oblivion. Hong is not that designer and she won’t go gently into the night. Witness her fall 2008 collection. A mix of colors, shapes and design theories all thrown into one show. A particular highlight from the collection was a pea-coat styled poncho with aesthetic and functional flaps at the neck. While it can’t be said that some of Michael Kors complaints were without merit, as an example, her choice of lemon yellow as a color for a vest juxtaposed underneath a black sports coat was almost garish; there’s plenty of reason to believe that Na Be is the real thing and will be here for a good long while.
