This Heart Truth Show didn’t seem as expansive as it usually does, but appearances can be deceiving especially when the first lady of the most powerful country in the world is in your show. Laura Bush opened the as the official ambassador of Heart Truth. The show was a paparazzi-style runway as if the celebrities were exiting a broadway show.
The red dresses offered this year ran the gamut from pieces for a young woman to others for the seasoned set. The show started with Molly Simms for Daniel Swarovski. A dazzling strapless covered in deep red crystals. Miss Simms had a little trouble with dress, basically having to tug it up every few seconds- but she was as amused as the crowd.
A personal favorite was Heidi Klum for Marc Jacobs – two of people in the fashion world that I am most partial to as one. The dress was a two-piece like spaghetti strap black and red mini. A must have for most closets. Other celebs included, Joss Stone, Cheryl Hines (Curb your Enthusiasm) who was super fun, Jenna Fischer, Lisa Rinna (lips and all) in a Michael Kors frinngy flapper style, and the list goes on (see photo gallery) .
The highlight for me was seeing Liza Minnelli close the show in a Halston original ( velvet flairs, with red top/jacket set) singing the
song I sang as a child because one day I knew I’d be living in the greatest city in the world. Liza sang New York, New York with as much passion as she did 30 years ago.
The only stress free show is a welcome opener to a very hectic week ahead. February is National Heart Month and this marks the fifth year anniversary of the foundation. So I hope you’re wearing your red today – and remember to be heart smart.
