In news that couldn’t come at a better time for struggling apparel maker Liz Claiborne, Isaac Mizrahi was named top designer of the company. The complete women’s line will be made over from scratch by Mizrahi. The first collection he designs will arrive at stores in February 2009. The deals severs his five year relationship with Target where he was also top fashion designer. The company plans on focusing on it’s top five lines: Juicy Couture, Mexx, Lucky Brand, Kate Spade and it’s own namesake.
There’s no word on how this deal affects recently acquired fashion house Narcisso Rodriguez.
