Purple Reigns

Samantha Cabrera

It’s the color of royalty and this fall everyone’s realizing why. Purple of any shade is regal and stunning. Simple, but never boring, the color has most recently taken center stage and we’re seeing it on shoes, bags and everything else. Whether it’s with your dark purple polish or a $500 pair of Louboutins, we suggest striking while the iron is hot.

Think of them as the other basic jean. Rich & Skinny strikes it rich with their purple skinny jeans ($189, revolveclothing.com) that serve as the perfect base for the standard little-top-and-jeans weekend fare.

It’s purple and it’s patent: two of fall’s favorite trends. Hitting on the great hardware trend that will never go away, Mulberry introduces the arrival of the Mabel ($995, intermixonline.com). Like all things Mulberry, it’s modern and reeks of upper crust cool, which is just how they do it on the other side of the pond.

Prim and proper, Banana Republic’s Addison flats ($69.50, bananarepublic.com) are as fresh as they are timeless. Updating the standard ballerina flat with pleated satin, the flats are perfect for slipping on during hostess duties for the holidays.

Ideal for throwing on for a crisp fall day, and perfect for layering come cooler weather. Topshop’s aubergine wrap sweater (about $60, topshop.com) is a great weight for getting that layered look without all of the bulk.

If PD wrote a book on NYC it may have more to do with Jeffrey’s and Opening Ceremony than the Empire State Building and Times Square. Luckily, the folks over at Wallpaper ($8.95, amazon.com) came out with something in between for the roving traveler.
