How to Work it After a Workout
Andrea Kiliany Thatcher
Working out is the most important thing you do to look great. But how do you look great while doing it? Our post-workout beauty tips will help you to look your best during your workout and do some quick touch-ups afterward.
We all know a girl who wears a full face of makeup to the gym. Okay, some of us are that girl. It’s important to keep in mind, though, that even oil-free foundations can have damaging affects on our skin. Add the excess oil and sweat from working out into the picture and you’re just asking for a breakout.
One thing you can do to reduce the damage is try mineral makeup. Mineral makeup particles rest on top of the skin, the particles are too large to be absorbed into pores. Thus, no clogged pores.

A favorite of ours, Von Natur, recently came out with a line of mineral makeup that includes color cosmetics like eye shadow and lip stain as well as some great soon-to-be basics. Choose from their powder or liquid foundations, plus a Goodbye Concealer perfect for covering up imperfections while keeping breakouts at bay and The Complete Setting Powder to avoid shine and keep makeup in place.
A long-lasting lipstick formula and waterproof mascara may seem like no brainers, but just look across the treadmills and you’re sure to see some raccoon eye and ring-around-the-lips victims.
While you probably keep your hair up if it’s long enough to get in your way during a workout anyway, this is also important to keep your hair from picking up sweat off your body. Carry a fresh towel to wipe away sweat from your shoulders, neck, and chest. Never touch your face at the risk of spreading bacteria! Pat and blot at your face with your towel instead.

If you’re more concerned with staying fresh after a workout, consider throwing some cleansing wipes in your bag for days when a shower isn’t in your schedule. L’Occitanemakes Verbena Refreshing Towelettes for hands and body, while many varieties for your face can be found in the drug store. If you want something more, Sundari’s Neem
and Aloe Vera Tonic Water is a natural facial freshener that helps skin restore its luster, while the healing body exfoliator from the same neem line ensures that skin sheds dead cells.

Your nails can reveal a multitude of sins, so be sure to throw one of Poshe’s new on-the-go kits into your workout bag. Their Shine Me Up and Travelin’ Tootsies sets make hands and feet look like they’ve been relaxing at the spa, not punching high-kicking at tae bo.
Luckily, working out gives you a healthy flush and leaves skin glowing, not to mention your confidence, so you can walk out of that gym with your head held high even if your eye shadow has disappeared.
