Winterize Your Skin

Winter is on its way and you need to start preparing for chapped lips, wind burns and dry/flaky skin. I’m sure you’re thinking “Great, more skin products.” Well it actually might not cost anything. You can help improve your skin with the things that you have in your own kitchen. It’s fun, cheap and if you like to cook, then this is for you.
The Blob
We all know that to look beautiful you first have to go through some ugly stuff. So, if you don’t mind looking like Swamp Thing for 15 – 20 minutes, you’ll agree that avocado is a very good moisturizer. Here’s the recipe:
4 tablespoons of clay (available at health food stores)
2 teaspoons avocado oil or ½ avocado (mashed)
2 teaspoons of water
4 drops of lavender oil or rose oil (optional for scent)
Mix the ingredients well.
Put the mask on your face avoiding the eye area.
Leave for 15 – 20 minutes.
Rinse off with warm water and pat dry.
Don’t have 15 – 20 minutes to devote? Here’s a good quick fix for flaky skin:
Rub half of an apple on the skin to even out the texture.
Place a pinch of sugar in the palm of your hands.
Gently massage on the flaky areas.
Rinse well with warm water.
If you’re not a do-it-yourself-type and don’t really feel like “cooking”, here are some alternative commercial products that you can use (in descending price order):
