Summer is here, and being on holiday is fast approaching. That’s if you haven’t already started cruising the Mediterranean or Route 66, whichever suits you. However, the summer isn’t all about the ‘season of ease’. With the summer heat, over-tanning, limp hair from the humidity, etc., women are not the only ones that must fight off the harsh elements to their skin and hair. Men are more conscious about their grooming routine to the point of perfection. Even in the harshest of climates. Combing the country to find men of style and influence who felt comfortable enough to speak on their grooming habits is as easy as cracking the Da Vinci code, but the search was completed and with some great results. I asked some of the top men of style and influence what grooming tips and products keep them calm and cool during this summer season, and sure enough they replied:
Cameron Silver – Owner/Founder of Decades Inc.
“I am not a daily shaver, but when I shave I use D. R. Harris @ Co Ltd. Arlington Shaving Cream…
I wash my face with Lever 2000…it’s cheap and totally chic. Not for everyone’s skin, but works for me.
Always use sun block and either Kanebo or La Roche-Posay Anthelious Ssun block cream.
Don’t use much moisturizer, but I like SK11.
For treatment products, Radical Departure from Dr. Eva is a great two week program.
Always use Phillip B shampoo and shower washes…
And try not to put too much stuff in my hair for styling…”

“My summer grooming techniques follow in the same vein as my fashion design mantra: Simple, simple, simple – chic, chic, chic…
Therefore, my grooming regime is just that – simple:
I start each day by using Kiehl’s Body Scrub and twice a week I use Carol’s Daughter’s Ocean Sea Salt Scrub. I also adore Carol’s Love Butter after I have had a day in the sun (sold at Carol’s Daughters location in Manhattan and Brooklyn, NY).
I only use Kiehl’s Creme des Corps as a daily body moisturizer and their Oil Free Moisturizer for facial care (both located at major skin care counters).
On days that I want to add a bit of fragrance I alternate between Kai (sold exclusively at Barneys) and Anick Goutal’s Falavril (sold via Sephora).
For full grooming (hair cut, massage, facial, manicure and pedicure) I spend two hours a week at Paul LaBracque Salon located on 65th and Park Avenue in Manhattan. I feel very strongly about spa treatments as I truly do believe that grooming should be an experience and not an exercise…”
Drew Davis – co-owner of Active Endeavors
“Face – Kiehl’s Blue Astringent Herbal Lotion & Kiehl’e Calendula Herbal-Extract Toner Alcohol Free
Hair – Sharps Mission Control:Guck-In-A-Puck and Arimino’s SPICE, a Japanese hair gel
Shave – Sharps Kid Glove Shave Gel
Wardrobe gotta haves: T-shirts from Ever and Corpus, Rag N Bones Denim no matter how hot it is, and flipflops or sneakers. Hartford swim trunks if I get a vacation.
Milk and Honey Café or Café 28 for brunch.”
Pat Parsi – President/Founder of Billy Jealousy (online men’s grooming product line)
“The best product to stay cool with is our Shaved Ice After-Shave Balm. Many customers apply it to their face, neck and shoulders to stay calm and cool during the hot summer months. Shaved Ice has a special ingredient
(Acrylate Cross Polymer) that quickly evaporates and cools the skin. Furthermore, Aloe Leaf Juice hydrates while Oat Kernel Extracts soothe the skin.” Pat Parsi, President
Arturo Gomez – COO of Rockit Ranch Productions
I personally like to keep facial hair to minimum during the summer months. I use a shaving cream made by Clinique Men. It’s a mentholated cream that provides an extremely refreshingt shave. I tend to favor the
lighter colognes ..right now I’m using Pasha by chanel for men.
