Can you believe that it is holiday time and 2006 is right around the corner?
The holidays always remind me of my family and watching old movies. I still get excited when “Miracle on 34th Street,” “It’s a Wonderful Life,” and “White Christmas” come on – and oh yes “A Christmas Story” (not as old but ohhhhh so funny). I can’t forget “Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer” and “Charlie Brown’s Christmas.” It’s the nostalgia in the shows that make me love love the holiday season.
Ok, enough! Let me get to the fashion. In our photo feature we found some great vintage dresses thanks to HOOTI COUTURE in Brooklyn, NY; and some great pieces from Banana Republic, Kenneth Cole and J Crew. These pieces were inexpensive enough to look great and not break your pockets after all your holiday gift buying. I think the finds at Hooti in particular show that vintage shopping may sometimes be the best way to go. I encouraged you to glam it up this holiday season. Nowadays there is not much dressing up anymore, and now is the perfect time to do it.
In addition to the normal fashion content, this month in Papierdoll, we also look at the downside of the holidays. Depression is very common this time of year and so nothing can be more important than looking at it and finding ways to help. We had a chat with designer Cat Swanson and take an eye opening look at her rise from adversity. Cat shares all her thoughts in this revealing interview. We review Alison and Melissa Houtte’s “Alligators, Old Mink and New Money.” It is a clever chronicle of Alison’s life as a model, fashionista and now vintage store owner. Having personally met with Alison on several occasions, I can easily say that she is fantastic, full of energy and I absolutely love her. There is so much more: entertaining guides, gift suggestions and that’s just on Papierdoll. ThriftyChick continues finding you the top bargains for all your gift giving needs (you may even find a little something for yourself).
I want to wish every one of our readers and visitors a wonderful and stylish holiday and New Year. Thank you for your continued support. Don’t forget our weekly updates, and see you in the new year!!!
