Helmut Lang owner Prada has announced that the mark will not show any of the wares for the Spring 2006 collection “for the time being.” The ominous announcement does not bode well for the mark. Production has been halted and talks are circling on a sale.
The CEO told Women’s Wear Daily in May that he was still deciding whether to sell the business as production was scheduled to continue to the end of the year. This was until the recent stoppage.
Lang’s sales have also not helped the cause. 2003 sales were down 33.1 percent to $31.46 million versus 2002 sales of $39.33 million.
