Once in a while, if you’re lucky, a pair of jeans comes along that instantly and automatically takes precedence over everything else in my wardrobe. The way they fit, how they look on me, and how they make me feel: finding a good pair of jeans is like, well, finding a good pair of jeans. They quickly become the most essential item of clothing you own.
James Jeans – new on the market – are a New York girl’s dream: sexy, stretchy, and thin enough to wear on a hot night and hot enough to wear with anything. James fit, to me, like my favorite around the house pair, but with unique stitching on the pockets and straight (and not too long) legs, they’re definitely a pair you want to show off.

Up until our review, I had only read about James Jeans. I never saw them in the stores, and maybe randomly on eluxury.com, but that was the extent. I tried on the James “Diablo” (Stretch: 98% cotton, 2% lycra. 34″ inseam and 8″ rise.), and I died and went to jean heaven. The fit was outstanding and they gave me a long, slim, silhouette. The denim was soft, not hard like most of the jeans are when you first try them on. The wash was dark enough to dress up for work, and the fit was relaxed enough to hang out on the weekend. The fabric was not too heavy so it can easily be worn in every season from 40 degrees to 95. “James Jeans’ designer Seun Lim was actually a couture designer before starting James Jeans and all the patterns are hand-made by her which is why the fit is so fabulous,” says James PR rep Kate McCarthy.
The James Maxwell jean (Features 7.5″ rise with 33.5″ inseam. 97% Cotton/3% Lycra Stretch; 11 oz) is another on the money jean. It is a five pocket boot cut with just enough distressing to make them look worn, but still very much so in tact. The slim leg, that ends in a flair give this jean a look of length to even short legs. This is the perfect date jean, or kicking back with your girlfriends. The Maxwell can be easily dressed up with a nice heel or boot, or down with an old pair of flip –flops. Purchase here.
Last, but certainly not least we tested The Stoli (33.75″ Inseam, 7.25″ Rise, Gorgeous light soil, 100% Cotton) off center boot cut. This jean had a lighter rinse then the rest of the jeans, giving them a look that could work with a cute tee or tank, or as fall approaches, a light weight sweater. Although there is no stretch in this jean at all, the fit is still great. (and all denim stretches out I would suggest going up a size if you have curves) The wash also comes in faded, making it a perfect weekend jean.
Applause goes to James Jeans! Their styles, and washes are classic, the trademark slash design on the pocket actually flatters your backside. Finally, almost every style is slimming make some styles allow you to go down a size (and who doesn’t love that!!!).
James jeans are an investment (and nowadays jeans are just that) that many young women may want to look into.
