Can you believe it is August?! I sure can’t. It seems like summer just began. With August comes the anticipation of fall fashions. Although it is still close to 90 degrees outside – in the shade, at the pool, at work, in the car, in the morning, in the evening … you get the idea – inside our favorite boutiques and department stores, the racks are filled with sweaters, long sleeves and dark colors.
Our August issue is all about denim. It seems like the jeans industry is taking over. I wouldn’t be surprised if the denim designers had their own fashion week here in New York City. What’s different? The competition is greater, the designs are bolder and prices are getting higher for premium denim. But are they worth it? We explore different styles, sizes and brands and share a few favorites all throughout August.
If you’ve been to the site before, you will notice minor facelifts here and there. Papierdoll is constantly in a state of change and this month is no different. Our fourth month brings a variety of welcome changes. We have a new section called “Scope.” Scope is a guest editorial section slash blog where Papierdoll writers share their views, rant and rave on anything and everything. This month’s Scope, by writer Lisa Radon, titled Dressing by Sharpie, looks at the new black in fashion.
Another significant change comes in the form of our Dollshop. The Dollshop is now the PapierShop offering a new Papierdoll exclusive item every month designed by an independent artist or designer. This month’s Papiershop includes a design from artist Chris Henshaw. When I first saw the design I thought to myself, this looks like a … nah can’t be. The flower love collection takes on a new meaning. It’s a sort of double entendre on an artistic level. Check the papiershop to see what I am talking about. The Papiershop will also include items from independent designers that give you great offers on really unique pieces.
Check out our masthead to see all the contributing writers this month. They have helped put together a great issue.
Our designer featured this month is Lindsay Stewart of Maxwell Hudson, a great young designer who offers a line of lounge/active wear. She may be the next Juicy Couture!
Beauty writer Wendy Mizel tackles beauty for the woman on the go. It’s a great feature for those who have little time to apply make-up while on those power calls.
We always appreciate our loyal readers and welcome all of our new ones. Keep checking in weekly for updates on our denim feature.
Next month: What does fall fashion have to offer? We feature everything fall in our big September issue. It’s all here in Papierdoll.
