“If I hadn’t been a musician, I would have been a designer,” Lenny Kravitz says in a 2002 New York Times article. “I love to design clothes.” While he’s had a hand in designing some of the pieces that make up his own flamboyant look, rumor has it that now Kravitz will partner with former Gucci designer Tom Ford to create a clothing line.
Who better to partner with on the venture than another handsome rake who wears his shirts unbuttoned down to there? Lucky for Kravitz, it just so happens that Tom Ford has a little time on his hands. Post-Gucci, Ford is both in the early stages of working a film (reportedly now writing a script rather than reading them) in LA and developing the Tom Ford brand with longtime business partner Domenico de Sole. That leaves a few extra minutes — for the man who sleeps two to three hours per night — for working with Kravitz.
It’s still in rumor stage, but apparently the line will be based on the Kravitz aesthetic which should be right up Ford’s alley: equal parts sex and glamour with Kravitz’ retro edge.
