St. John Inc. co-founder and main designer Marie Gray and daughter slash creative director Kelly Gray announced on Monday that the pair is retiring from running the operations of the company.
The Gray family founded St. John 43 years ago. Through the 4 decades of operation St. John has been a centered around creating elegant, consistent designs for women.
Kelly Gray will return to the company in the form of a consultant. Marie Gray will continue on the board of directors.
Vestar Capital purchased 83 percent of St.Johns in 1999. The Gray family including co-founder Robert Gray who retired in 2002 remains a minority shareholder in the brand.
