Now that summer is in full effect, how are you surviving? Living in New York, it seems as if I have an ever-changing wardrobe. The weather here goes from hot to humid to a mixture of both, which is just plain bad. There are days where you must grab a sweater to walk to lunch or take off half your clothes because the temperature changed dramatically.
It seems as if just when we are getting around to pulling out those great summer shorts and dresses, you realize you need more. There are great bargains to be found at all the summer clearance sales because in about two weeks fall will be invading the racks of your favorite stores. My dilemma when looking for sales: no sizes left. There always seems to be three sizes left when I’m looking: 0, 12, and 14. Very extreme, and I won’t even get into shoe shopping. It must be a sign to save money.
I hope that you are having a great summer. This is our third month in and we are already going the celebrity route. This month we have some great features for those days you’re not out getting a tan. We take a look at celebrity designers and the popular trends they create. Our beauty section focuses on summer curls, and how to handle them. If you are like me, your curls drive you more crazy the higher the humidity gets. A Seattle fashion show is covered showing off trendy clothes and accessories.
We also introduce you to a very interesting (if nothing else) designer. Apollo Braun is an absolute riot, maybe borderline genius, who assures me he will “conquer the world.” We spent a few hours with Apollo and could not stop laughing the entire time.
Our retro piece also includes a designer who almost conquered the fashion world until he was tragically taken away: Gianni Versace.
